<p>If so, it could be due to a feature which was added to Firefox in version 1.5.    The feature limits the time allowed for a script to run &#8211; the idea being that a rogue script will be terminated before it can affect the running of the browser.</p>
<p>However, you have the option of extending the allowed run time of a script using the following method:</p>
<ol>
<li>In the firefox address bar &#8211; type <strong>about:config</strong> and press return.</li>
<li>Find : <strong>dom.max_script_run_time</strong> and then double click on the line to edit the timeout value</li>
<li>Hit OK, then restart Firefox</li>

<p>Turns out it was a problem with the z-axis.   One of the other elements on the page was appearing on top of the links and obscuring them.  By using  &#8220;z-index&#8221; I was able to re-order the elements, bringing the links to the surface again &#8211; and all worked fine again.</p>
