Wow – XKCDs comic strip was only published earlier today (see our earlier post), but the word Shibboleet has already become a Google trending topic:
So just what does the word mean? Well it’s a clever combination of two words, Shibboleth and Leet.
Leet is a common term used by hackers as a code for “elite” (l33t).
The word Shibboleth is a Hebrew word which comes from the Bible. Due to the difficult pronunciation of the word, it became a code word for the Israelites who could spot a foreigner due to their mispronunciation
Put the two words together and you can see how Shibboleet can be used to spot a techie!
Game developer Rovio have just announced that they’re introducing in-game payment support for their popular game “Angry Birds”.
The new “Mighty Eagle” is a new bird which can decimate a level, leaving nothing remaining, however to use him, you need to purchase via a one time payment from within the game.
However there are catches…
To use him again, you need to go back to the level and complete it yourself.
